Me and Rigel had an idea to incorporate the shop into the forums, which required me to store all the shop information (items and points) on the forums database. Maybe not required, but it was easier that way. Since the information is stored in the users table I needed to have an account to store it under which meant it was necessary for a user to create an account before the information could be saved.

I understand your point, but it is a lot of effort for someone who's just playing on the server randomly or once in a while to come on and make an account and link their steam account just to access the PS store. Which to be fair has been proven if you ever in the server and look at the amount of regular players/members that are not receiving PS points therefore not linked their steam account to the forums, so to encourage random people well it's just not going to happen from my point of view.

However what I could see working is items specifically only available if you've signed up on the forums/linked your steam account if that is possible.

Oh I completely agree. The idea me and Rigel had was about having the shop working on the forums the same way it works In game. So you could buy/sell/trade items without having to get In game. Along with points given to you with forum awards/posts/threads/thanks. We never finished all that, and with what we have now I think it would be better to take the shop off the forums so that all the random's on the server can use the shop. Although that's just my opinion.
