As a lot of you may or may not know, the 3DS game, Resident Evil: Revelations, was just released for all consoles and PC for about $50. Now, with that being said that this is a handheld game being ported to console/PC, do not expect this game to be very graphic intensive. The max resolution you can bring the game up to is 1280x720, and there are a few textures that look like they were just "wall papered" on. However, the game still manages to hold up quite well for graphics, especially during cinematic cut scenes.
As for the actual gameplay, RE:R mostly takes place on a ship known as the "Queen Zenobia", where Jill Valentine's former partner, Chris Redfield and his current partner Jessica, have disappeared. However, true to the Resident Evil style, you'll find that things are not what they seem at all, and plot twists are everywhere. The atmosphere on the ship is reminiscent of the older Resident Evil games, and does quite a good job at making a player feel on edge, wondering when that next zombie is gonna come out and start flailing for your face. The other areas of the game also provide a decent level of suspense and provide a good atmosphere for where they're trying to put you in.
Like the last few Resident Evil games, the camera is third-person over the shoulder, and the only time you're actually going to be aiming down a sight is with a sniper rifle. Speaking of weapons, you'll find no shortage of them here. You start the game off with your trusty pistol and knife, but you'll find shotguns, machine guns, snipers and magnums as the game progresses. That is, if you manage to find them. The only real problem that I had with the gameplay itself was that there seemed to be A LOT of back tracking, which got really annoying, especially when you're trying to find your way to a certain part of the ship, and you find that you were going the wrong direction all together, or you missed that elevator that was down that one inconspicuous hallway nobody would think to run down.
Music. As I've pointed out in my other reviews, music is a huge part of any game for me. RE:R manages to do a fine job with the music, however there are a lot of times where it gets annoying. For example, music will be playing in the background making you feel like you need to hurry and get somewhere or you're in a fight with zombies, but there's no real reason to rush as its going to take you forever to where you need to get to anyway, or there are literally no zombies in sight, and the music just plays on a constant loop which can become very irritating after a while.
tl;dr- Good atmosphere, good graphics considering its a handheld port, decent gameplay with what seems like a lot of backtracking, decent music quality that can unfortunately get stuck in a loop and can get annoying after a while.
