You may, at the moment it being only limited to people who are registered on the forums (and have linked their steam account) means that we are missing the opportunity to use this system to entice randomers to our servers and to get invested in our servers. Therefore more members, more donations, more money, World domination is ensure to come.
The thought was to encourage people to join the forums so they could get points. There use to be a notification when you joined which explained that to new players but I think it got lost one of the times I updated the shop.
Me and Rigel had an idea to incorporate the shop into the forums, which required me to store all the shop information (items and points) on the forums database. Maybe not required, but it was easier that way. Since the information is stored in the users table I needed to have an account to store it under which meant it was necessary for a user to create an account before the information could be saved.

Following the system, you need to earn them again. You could try speaking to management about getting some points back, but I can't promise anything.

The ultimate solution would be to increase the income rate if the user is registered on the website, so instead of (example) 30 points/hour, it could be 60 points/hour, which, as Tatali0n stated, would lead to world domination.
