By Jack (real name not to be distributed)
Dear reader, thank you for taking the time to read this novel that I am making. Before you begin, please understand that this book is not yet completed. In fact, I have not even gone back to edit my work. Some parts of the book can be cheesy, some parts of the books can be a real treat. If you have an idea, concern, or something on your mind you wish to distribute about my novel, feel free to share it here. This will be the only topic I will post for the story (to avoid postwhoring). I will post here if there is an important update that I must mention. Credit goes to @SNOWLEOPORD; for the title art. Enjoy!

"Jak" A voice said.
It was noon, Jak'Yahtzee was in his office half asleep. The elite has been up all night, researching for a job. He opened his already-shut eyes to glance at the speaker. It was a human, standing at five feet ten wearing brown standard citizen kelvar. His helmet was shining with cleaniness.
"You have been here for almost a day now," the human said " Do you ever sleep?"
Jak yawned tiredly, turning his head to find out the time in his holo-clock. He looked back at the human, rubbing his eyes.
"Yeah..." Jak replied " Haven't I toldy ou I am looking for a job now?"
The human laughed. " Again?" He said.
Jak looked confused, he thought back of what he has done before doing more reasearch. A sudden blow of remberance hitting him square in the face.
"Damn!" Jak said, standing up. "I forgot I got into the police force!"
The human laughed, shaking his head. "You know, Jak, you really need to stop staying up so late." He said. " You are acting like you have brain damage or something."
" Oh ha-ha-ha..." Jak said, walking towards the human. " Rick, do you know when I am supposed to be picked up?"
Rick nodded. " The computer-lady...what was her name again?" Rick asked.
" You got to be joking. " Jak said, laughing a bit. " I keep on saying my AI's name over and over again to you. Now your acting like you have brain damage!"
"Oh ha-ha-ha" Rick mocked. " Now I remember, Xenon!"
Jak nodded in approval.
"Anyways," Rick said, crossing his arms. " Xenon said that your boss is coming in ten minutes, you better get your ass outside!"
"Yes sir!" Jak said sarcastically. "Would you like a cookie too sir?"
"Oh shut up!" Rick said jokingly, leading Jak out of his office, and out of the house. Jak looked around, it was a warm day. The close sight of plant life and people's homes. The large street was empty, as usual.
"Your boss will pick you up here." Rick said, shutting the door behind himself. " I sure hope as hell you will be put in my squad, my partner got fired!"
"Sounds like you just got back from heaven." Jak said.
"You bet it does!" Rick replied. " That bastard nearly killed me in that car chase! I cannot believe he tried shooting through a bullet proof windshield!"
Jak laughed, he found it amusing to listen to Rick complain about his own partner. As Rick explained the event, a police car rolled into Rick's driveway.
"And that bastard tried to punch-" Rick said, looking at the car.
A man stepped out of the car, he was wearing ODST kelvar with blue and black on it. He had a 9mm sidearm on his hip. He looked at the elite, walking up to him.
"You must be Jak'yahtzee," the man said cooly.
Jak nodded. "Feel free to call me Jack." he said.
"Name's officer brown," the man said, holding out his hand. "I am your new boss."
The elite shook the hand, suprised of the friendliness of the human. As he released the officer's hand, Rick murmered something under his mask. Officer Brown turned, giving a hint of suprise in his posture.
"Well good god!" The officer said. " If it isn't Ricky!"
Rick crossed his arms. " Hello... chief.."
"Still being a smartass as usual I see!" The officer said with a laugh. "Glad to see you still alive son, I could use a hand in my force!"
" No thanks." Rick replied. "I get enough problems in the force I am already in as it is!"
" Like you get any problems with me!" the officer said with another laugh. " This here your buddy, Jack?"
" Yeah, we are room mates." Jak said. " Couldn't afford a house yet, so I decided to live with Rick until I can afford one."
"Looks like you got the easy life, son!" The officer replied. " Living with a friend, no rent to pay, that is sure something!"
" Actually," Rick said. " Jack technically pays me rent, it comes out of his pay from the war."
" Five hundred thousand credits," Jak said. "That is how much I was worth."
" Damn," The officer replied. "I was only paid fifty thousand! You must of done good son, something my force lacks!"
The three laughed, a sudden beeping coming from the officer's wrist. He stopped, touching his wrist quickly. "Well damn!" Officer Brown said. " You two just made me late! We better go Jack, lets hop to it!"
"Yes sir!" Jack said, following the officer into his car.
" Good luck out there," Rick said. "You are going to need it!"
The car sped away, Rick's house disappearing as the car turned a corner.

It was a silent car ride, yet it seemed to Jak that time was getting slower whenever he thinks. He sat there, arm resting on his door's handle with his head resting on his hand. He thought of himself being back in the battlefield once again. As he thought of himself in his previous battles, a thought occured to him. " Will I be the left alone again...?" The thought haunted him for a moment. " But I was never alone!" the elite tought. "Kid!"
He remembered his partner, Kid, in the war. He first met with her one night when he was assigned a spec-ops mission by himself on Reach. The elite was surrounded by several solgiers, he weilded a plasma pistol (his last resort weapon). He stood in the center of the circle of armed marines, each one aiming at the elite. The thought of death clouding Jak, he dropped his weapon shamefully. However, the leader of the squad did not cease him. In fact, he just stood there, frozen onto the ground which he stood. His team mates questioned their leader's sudden change of behavor. The answer, a fully armored spartan appeared right behind him. She had a knife dug into his back, her hand covering the captain's mouth. The team mates begun to turn frantic. Not knowing who to aim for, the spartan took out her 9mm pistol and shot three marines to death quickly. The surviving marines quickly opened fire, at the spartan, she used the now-dead captain at a shield. The marines retreated as she opened fire, leaving the elite left with the spartan and himself. Suprise filled the elite now, he watched as the spartan removed her knife from the bloody-body. She walked up to Jak, setting her knife back into her holster."We are here." She said in a male voice.
Jak snapped back into reality, the car pulled into a police station's garadge. Jak shook his head slightly, exiting out of the car. He followed Officer Brown into the station's lobby. A woman sitting in a circular office glanced at the elite and then at Brown. " He is with me, Julie!" the officer barked. The woman immediately sent her head facing her computer monitor, she had a tense look on her face. The chief (a name Officer Brown liked to be called) lead Jack into another room. The words "Restricted Access" engraved on its side. It led to the base of the station, Jak was amazed of how large the station was. " This way." The Chief commanded. The elite followed as the human lead him into the officer's barracks. The men inside all wore police officer attire, each either chatting, writing, or sleeping. As the door slammed shut behind Jak, each police officer looked up at the two. Suprised looks suddenly filled their faces.
"Please don't tell me..." One of the officers said.
"Thats right, Maggots, this here is our new addition to the force!" The chief barked. Jak stepped up next to the chief. " This here is Jack, he is a war vet and a pretty damn good one too! If any of you bothered to check his file, he was a ULTRA during the war. Meaning, he is better trained than all of you combined! This elite managed to take out one of our war frigates himself! Ain't that something?"
Another officer murmered something, the chief glanced at the officer. "Something you would like to say, Sparkie?"
The officer, Sparky, shook his head. " No sir, nothing to say."
" Good!" The chief replied. "Because I could of swarn you just said you had a crush on Jenkins!"
The officers, including Jak, began to laugh. "N-No sir!" Sparky said with an embarassed look.
" Then don't even mutter anymore!" the chief said. "Otherwise, you will be known for something you aren't! Now, Jak here has also supported the UNSC after the covenant turned against his race. So don't even try to make any excuses for him NOT to be in the force, understood?"
The officers exchanged looks, before shouting "Yes sir!" all together.
"Thats more like it, boys!" The chief said, walking up to a young officer with brown hair and blue eyes.
